Donation drive to support A Safe Place, Family Justice Center for Clackamas County
A Safe Place, Clackamas County, and the Clackamas Federal Credit Union are conducting a donation drive to help survivors of domestic violence. Items can be donated through Saturday, Nov. 30, at the stand-alone Clackamas Federal Credit Union branches in Canby, Milwaukie, Oregon City and Sandy.
The community is invited to donate
· diapers and wipes
· school supplies
· new backpacks
· gift cards,
· new pajamas and new fleece pants/coats
· new socks and undergarments and
· used cell phones with chargers
When an abuse survivor suddenly leaves their home, they do not always have the time to pack the items that are most necessary. Community partners at the center are hoping to have items available to help survivors with such items.
The donation drive is meant to help in emergency situations with things that they need in a hurry. Babies need their diapers changed, kids need supplies for schools, and everyone needs a warm coat or other necessities. Used cell phones can also be used without a SIM card to make 911 calls in an emergency.
A Safe Place Family Justice Center for Clackamas County will open this November in Oregon City at 256 Warner-Milne Rd., Oregon City. Clackamas County will partner with law enforcement and local service providers to offer a safe location where law enforcement officials, legal service providers, victim advocates and providers can work together to help families escape and recover from domestic, sexual and vulnerable adult abuse.
At A Safe Place, survivors of domestic violence will be able to receive coordinated and holistic care. Family Justice Centers across the countryhave reduced homicides, increased victim safety; empowered victims; reduced fear and anxiety for victims and their children; and reduced intimidation.
