Fun activities, popcorn, and comic books!! The library will host a cosplay contest for Free Comic Book Day, May 6th, 11-1, in the Community Room. The contest is open to all ages and divided into three categories: kids, teens, and adults. Costumed participants receive a raffle ticket and are entered into a drawing for one of three prizes.

The 1932 Mile Walk From Missouri to Oregon

Thursday, May 18th, 6:30

The speakers, John Salisbury and Richard Matthews, will cover the length of the Oregon Trail, from Independence to Oregon City, using slides of the trail. We will incorporate the importance of Dr. John McLoughlin, and his role in saving many Oregon Trail pioneers. Mr. Salisbury has walked the Oregon Trail in 5 different locations (Independence, Kearney, Casper, Boise, and Oregon City) for a total of 5 weeks as part of a federal history project in the 1990’s. He says, “I walked in the dust of the footprints of those who came before us”.

Art at the Library! Visit the Hoodland library to see the beautiful quilts made by the local group, The Piecemakers! A different quilt is on exhibit each month. The Clackamas County Arts Alliance also exhibits the work of local (county) artists. This exhibit changes quarterly.

The Cultural Pass program offers passes to cultural venues for one-day checkout. Patrons may call the library to reserve passes in advance, check them out, and treat the family to a free or discounted adventure. To see which passes are available at other Clackamas County libraries, visit www.lincc.org and click on Cultural Passes.

Mt. Hood Hospice invites you to participate in our popular happiness support group based on the book Awakening Joy, by James Baraz. More than just a “feel-good” program, this group focuses on practical ways to incline the mind towards happiness and provides a positive network for developing and strengthening

practices that support a happier life.  We hope you will join us on this five month adventure in mindfulness as we develop our natural capacity for well-being, happiness and ease. Returnees are welcome!

Mt. Hood Hospice Grief Support Groups

People who are grieving the death of a loved one are invited to participate in Mt.
